Synopsis :
The film tells of king Charles VI stating that Knight Jean de Carrouges resolved his dispute with his bodyguard by challenging him to a duel. Where in 1386, Marguerite de Carrouges admitted to having been raped by her husband's friend and bodyguard Jacques Le Gris.
Her husband, the knight Jean de Carrouges, challenged her to trial through battle, the last legally sanctioned duel in French history. The events leading up to the duel are divided into three chapters, with the first two reflecting the perspectives of de Carrouges and Le Gris respectively. And the third reflects Marguerite's perspective.
